Legalization
of documents
for use in China

The citizens of Kazakhstan leaving to China for work or permanent residence are required to legalize personal documents.

Recently we completed a project on consular legalization of diploma and police clearance certificate for the citizen of the RoK, to whom these documents were required to obtain work permit in China. The client was in China and all actions (on his behalf and in his interests) were carried out by the WPK consultants remotely on the basis of a power of attorney.

We share the stages of the work completed:
Stage 1
Collection and preparation of documents package
  • Diploma and archive certificate
    We asked the client for the original diploma. There was an official request to the university where the client studied, and then we received an archive certificate.
  • Police clearance certificate
    We submitted a request to the Citizen Service Center for information on the criminal record and received a police clearance certificate.
  • Authentication and translation
    We have prepared the notarized copies of documents translated into Chinese.
  • Application
    Prior to submission of the documents for legalization to the Department of Consular Service of the RoK MFA we filled in the application form.
  • Questionnaire
    Prior to submission of the documents for legalization, a special questionnaire was submitted to the Chinese Embassy.
  • Receipts for payment of the consular fee/duty of the RoK MFA
    The consular fee was paid in the amount of 1,531.5 KZT* for each document.

Stage 2
Legalization of documents in the Department of Consular Service of the RoK MFA
For legalization, the following documents were submitted to the Department of Consular Service of the RoK MFA:

  • Original diploma + notarized copy with translation
  • Police clearance certificate with notarized translation
  • Application
  • Archive certificate from the university
  • Power of attorney from the client issued to the WPK employee
  • Notarized copy of the client's identity card
  • Receipts for payment of consular fees/duties

The documents processing period was 3 business days. Upon completion, we received the documents with the stamps the stamps of the Department of Consular Service confirmed their recognition and validity in the territory of the RoK.
Stage 3
Legalization of documents in the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan
The next stage is the recognition of documents by the Embassy of China.

We submitted a questionnaire to the Embassy and documents approved by the Department of Consular Service of the RoK MFA and received the details for payment of consular fees.

The next day after the documents were submitted for legalization (unless and until), a consular fee of 18,800 KZT was paid for each document. The receipt for payment was provided to the Embassy.

The documents processing period was 5 business days. At the end, we received the documents with the official stamp and seal of the Chinese Embassy confirmed that the documents are legalized and can be submitted to the state authorities of China. The process of consular legalization was completed.
Result
The process of consular legalization took about 1 month, including submission of official requests and obtainment of the necessary certificates.

The client was provided with legalized documents on the due date. Using them, our client successfully received work permit and is currently working in China.
