Legalization of documents for use in Vietnam

If you are traveling to Vietnam for employment or permanent residence, you will need to legalize a number of personal documents.

Please take the time to get acquainted with the main stages of the consular legalization of documents for use in Vietnam.
Stage 1
Collection of necessary documents for the process
Please prepare the following documents before submitting documents to the Department of Consular Service of the MFA of the RoK and the Embassy of Vietnam in the RoK.

Following documents are subject to legalization:
  • Marriage certificate / Birth certificate of a child (original is legalized less often)
  • Educational document with academic achievement statement (appendix to the diploma) OR without (original is legalized less often)
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Other official documents issued in Kazakhstan

Note: If you don't have the original document, then get a duplicate of it in advance.
Stage 2
Notarization and translation of documents
Stamps of consular legalization can be affixed both on the original documents and on the notarized copies. In practice, copies of documents are often legalized, since the process of legalizing the original can take one or more months.

Important!
According to the rules of the Embassy of Vietnam, the translation of documents is carried out only at the Embassy itself. The consular fee for the translation is 15 $ USD per page of the document.
Stage 3
Legalization of documents by the Department of Consular Service in the RoK
Next step of the process is the consular certification of documents at the Department of Consular Service of the MFA of the RoK. For this, you should submit the documents below :
  1. Copies of ID / passport of the document holder
  2. Notarized copy of the document to be legalized
  3. Original document to be legalized (for verification)
  4. Original and copy of the Power of Attorney (if documents submitted by the representative)
  5. Copy of ID of authorized representative 6. Original payment receipt of the consular fee of the MFA (0,5 MCI – 1725 KZT)

Note:
Processing time for the consular legalization at the MFA is 3 business days since the date of documents submission. Upon completion of the process you will be issued documents with the stamps of the MFA, which means their recognition and validity of issuance on the territory of the RoK.
Stage 4
Legalization of documents by the Embassy of Thailand in the RoK
The last stage is the recognition of documents by the Embassy of Vietnam. To legalize documents at the Vietnam Embassy, you will be required to submit the following pack of documents:
  1. Copy of ID / passport of the document holder
  2. Copy of the legalized document at the DCS of the MFA of the RoK
  3. Original document to be legalized (for verification)
  4. Original and copy of the Power of Attorney (if documents submitted by the representative)
  5. Photo 4*6 – 2 pсs
  6. The questionnaire of the established sample (filled in at the Embassy)
  7. Copy of ID of authorized representative
  8. Original payment receipt of the consular fee of 25 $ US in cash for each document
Result
Documents consideration term at the Embassy of Vietnam is 3-4 working days from the date of documents submission. Upon completion, you will be issued documents with official stamp and seal of the Embassy. This means that documents are duly legalized and can be provided to the state authorities in Vietnam.
