Legalization
of documents
for use in Qatar

If you are traveling to Qatar for employment or permanent residence, you will need to legalize a number of personal documents.

Please take the time to get acquainted with the main stages of the consular legalization of documents for use in Qatar.
Stage 1
Collection of necessary documents for the process
Before submitting documents to the Department of Consular Service of the MFA of the RoK and the Embassy of Qatar in Nur-Sultan, fill out and prepare the following documents:
  • Application form (MFA)
  • Questionnaire (Qatar Embassy)
  • Receipts on payment of consular fees / duties of the RoK MFA, Embassy of Qatar

Make sure you have the original documents:
  • Marriage certificate (if any)
  • Birth certificate (if any)
  • Educational document + academic achievement statement (appendix to the diploma)
  • Archival certificate from the University
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Power of Attorney (if documents submitted by your representative)

Note:
If the original document is missing, get its duplicate in advance.

Please note that in order to legalize the diploma, you should provide the appendix to the diploma, as well as an archival certificate from the University confirming the completion of study.
Stage 2
Notarization and translation of documents
Legalization stamps can be placed both on the original documents and on the notarized copies. In practice copies of the documents are legalized for the process.

Kindly prepare the notarized copies of documents translated into Arabic or English. The translation language depends on the requirements of the state authorities in Qatar where the documents will be submitted. Make sure you learn about these requirements in advance.

The following documents must be notarized and translated into appropriate language:
  • Original marriage / birth certificate
  • Diploma + appendix to the diploma (without archival certificate)
  • Criminal record
  • Identity cards / passports of your family members
Stage 3
Legalization of documents by the Department of Consular Service

  1. Original marriage / birth certificate
  2. Original diploma + appendix
  3. Archival certificate from the University
  4. Notarized copy with translation of the marriage / birth certificate
  5. Notarized copy with translation of the diploma + appendix
  6. Notarized copy with translation of the police clearance certificate

  9. Copies of identity cards / passports of your family members
  10. Payment receipt of the consular fees / duties of the MFA (0,5 MCI – 1389KZT plus 3 MCI – 8334KZT)

Note:
Documents No. 1, 2, 3 must be provided in origin for verification by the MFA representative and will be returned to you safely.

Processing time for the consular legalization at the Department of Consular Service of the MFA is 3 business days since date of submission. Upon completion of the process you will receive documents with the stamps of the MFA, which means their recognition and validity of issuance in Kazakhstan.
Stage 4
Legalization of documents by the Embassy of Qatar in Nur-Sultan
This is the last stage of the legalization process. To legalize documents at the Qatar Embassy, you will be required to submit the following pack of documents to the Embassy:
  1. Notarized copies of the above documents with translation and stamps of the Department of Consular Service of the MFA
  2. Notarized copies with translation of identity cards / passports of your family members
  3. Original and copy of the Power of Attorney (if documents submitted by the representative). Original will be safely returned after verification by the Embassy employee

You will be requested to make payment of the consular fee in the amount of 27 USD per document the day after you submit your documents (you can't do it earlier). After payment the original receipt should be submitted to the Embassy.
Result
It takes 5 business days since submission date for consideration of the documents at the Embassy of Qatar. At the end of the process you will receive documents with the official stamp and seal of the Embassy. This means that documents are duly legalized and can be provided to the state authorities in Qatar.
